Things you can do to improve your English

Tips to improve your English

1. " most of our language ability comes from language that we subconsciously acquire (we don't notice it when it happens), not language that we consciously study.

If that's true - and it is! - how do we acquire language? There is  only one way: by understanding messages, in other words, by reading and listening to understandable English. "

2. "when you are looking for something to read or listen to, look for things that you're interested in. Find books or podcasts that are so interesting that you get absorbed in them (they take all of your attention).

Second, don't study the things you read or listen to. Relax. Read or listen to them for fun. Enjoy them.

Finally, believe - really believe! - that you are becoming an English-user! Ignore those things you call mistakes (I don't call them that!). Imagine yourself using English comfortably and confidently.

In short, don't worry, be happy with your English acquisition process!  Welcome to the club!"

3. "Context in language learning is the most important element besides the motivation of the learner. The teacher, the textbook, the school, the "ability" of the learner, are all less important.

What is important is that you enjoy your language studies.  You need to connect emotionally with what you are learning, you need to fall in love with it.

If the learning context is pleasant and interesting, and if your are connected emotionally, you will start to "see".

You will choose the phrases that you like, and avoid the ones that you do not want, just as you find some aspects of the object of your love endearing, and others less so."
